How do I place objects at a 45 degree angle?

This game cheat is only available if you have an expansion pack installed (it was introduced with University and has been included in every expansion pack since).

Press CTRL + SHIFT + C together to access the cheat console then enter the following:

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true

To rotate your object use the hand tool to select an object and whilst you are 'holding' it, press the , (<) or . (>) keys on your keyboard it will be rotated at 45 degree increments. If you wish to turn this cheat off again again, bring up the cheat console and type in

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation false

Please be aware that some items may not work correctly when placed diagonally, your Sim's may only know how to use an item when it is placed at the usual angle, additionally you may find some custom items do not work correctly (they may disappear, or revert back to the Maxis item they were cloned from). This cheat is case sensitive for University only.
