Problems with The Sims/Parsimonious & Windows Vista

Kate answers:-

We're getting quite a lot of visitors contacting us with problems regarding Windows Vista. These problems range from not being able to download from the site, not being able to unzip downloaded files, not being able to run or install The Sims or Sims 2 etc.

We can't offer ANY support for Windows Vista for the simple reason that none of our residents use it!

If you have general problems with internet browsing, downloading and unzipping then the ONLY thing I can suggest you try is to go to the Microsoft Windows Vista support site

EA does not support The Sims or Sims 2 running under Windows Vista

According to EA's tech support, neither game was designed to run under Vista so if it doesn't work for you, their response will amount to 'tough cheese' and to the best of my knowledge Maxis are not working on anything that will make The Sims 2 compatible.

One tip I can pass on however which seems to be working for some Vista users, if your game isn't working at all, try creating a new Windows profile on your computer, login using that profile and then run the game.
