Sims 2 FileMaid
4/10

This is a Sims 2 specific way of handling archive files so it can make life easier if all you wish to do is download and install files into your Sims 2 Game.

As with the Sims 2 RoboFileMaid 3000 the major problem with tools specific for one purpose is they can't be used for other things, if you use a regular zip program to extract files then you will be able to unzip files from anywhere for any purpose.

The Sims 2 Filemaid is a free program and it easy to use with its drag and drop interface, however there are a couple of other serious issues with it. There is no support offered for this program so if it doesn't work for you then there are no available fixes.

Having done some testing of it, I have found, as others have when using this software that it is somewhat buggy. When opening sims2pack files it can be quite slow as it uses the Maxis installer, as with the Sims 2 RoboFileMaid 3000 it does not give you the option to check what is inside the sims2packs and I certainly found that it would hang occasionally and had to be closed in Task Manager.

Setting Up Sims 2 Filemaid
Once you have downloaded Sims 2 Filemaid, double click on the install file to start the installation process. The setup is simple, follow the on screen instructions.

By default this program will locate your Downloads folder for you, however I strongly recommend that you investigate your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder for yourself so that you are aware of what folders are in there. You will certainly need to know this so that you can move any unsupported items out of your Downloads folder and into your Saved Sims folder where required

Using Sims 2 Sims 2 Filemaid
Once it is installed start the Sims 2 Filemaid and open the folder where your downloaded zips or rars are stored. Drag either one at a time or a selection of files on to the grass area in the Sims 2 Filemaid window. Provided they are all of the correct file type it should process those items into the folder you have specified.

Do remember that you may need to either move Fashion items into your Saved Sims folder afterwards.

There is a read-me so please consult that if you run into any difficulties.
