This is a Sims 2 specific way of handling archive files so it can make life generally easy if all you wish to do is download and install files into your Sims 2 Game. Its completely free so why have I given it such a mean score I am sure you are wondering?

The major problem with tools specific for one purpose is they can't be used for other things, if you use a regular zip program to extract files then you will be able to unzip files from anywhere for any purpose. This program wont help much if you want to unzip music or movies or photos or downloads for other games you might want to play in the future. For that reason I would recommend trying some of the zip program options first before resorting to the Sims 2 RoboFileMaid 3000

In my investigation of different zip programs I've been trying to find solutions that are newbie friendly, that aren't too challenging for people will little or no experience of using a computer. I have to be brutally honest that the Sims 2 RoboFileMaid 3000 is not the easiest method I have come across, its not hugely difficult either but there are simpler methods in terms of learning to use the program itself.

 On the plus side it does do exactly what is required of it, it will take multiple zips or rars or a mixture of the two and dump the contents all in the selected folder. It is quick and once you've mastered the options it isn't difficult to use. Nevertheless as far as options for installing custom content for dummies goes, I have to be frank that this does not make the top of my list.

By default this program will locate your Downloads folder for you, however I strongly recommend that you investigate your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder for yourself so that you are aware of what folders are in there. You will certainly need to know this so that you can change the destination folder as appropriate when installing different types of content.

To change the target folder or other settings click on the little radial button in the top left corner of the program when it is running. Select 'Change Download Directory' and use the Browse for Folder feature to select the folder you wish the extracted files to end up in.

Do remember that you may need to either move Fashion items into your Saved Sims folder afterwards, or change the destination directory using the Sims 2 RoboFileMaid 3000 options menu to install clothing, genetics and make-up items to your game.

There is a read-me so please consult that if you run into any difficulties. During my testing I opened a selection of files and unfortunately found the Sims 2 RoboFileMaid 3000 froze 5 times and it was necessary to close it in Task Manager. The zips had all been tested and found working in all the other zip programs I had installed recently (as you can see from the list on the Zip help page there are quite a few!) so I'm confident the integrity of the zips is not to blame.
