Stuffit for Windows
8/10

To download Stuffit you DO need to register in so far as you need to sign up your email address and agree to receive their newsletter.

It has the peculiar merit of being able to extract .sit files which are the old Mac version of a zip file, as well has handling zip and rar files although the .sit format is really a little obsolete and almost never seen in the Sim Web.

In most aspects Stuffit appears to be reasonable and straightforward program, the 2 points I've deducted have largely been due to the fact they have made it more tricky than necessary to acquire the software, the registration requirement and the pricing of their products is not 100% clear (don't worry - the basic version IS free). It also doesn't have 7zip compatibility and the installation process is a little cumberthesome.

Setting Up Stuffit Expander
Once you have downloaded Stuffit , double click on the install file to start the installation process. The setup is reasonably simple although not quick as there are various forms to fill in, it doesn't seem to be necessary to put in your name, company etc, but your email address is again required. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using Stuffit Expander
Once it is installed you can either right click on a single zip, or drag a selection box around multiple zips then right click to open several at a time. From the menu choose 'Stuffit 11' (or whichever version you happen to have) > Expand > Expand Here to extract the files to the folder your zips are currently in. You can alternatively choose to extract your zips to your Desktop, or change the options using Expand with Options...

When extracting a single zip you can use the Expand to Folder named after archive which means Stuffit will create a subfolder with the same name as your zip and put the contained files in it. This isn't generally recommended for Sims custom content, especially not for Fashion items, makeup, hair, clothing, meshes etc.
