This is a Mac
specific problem, it is caused by non-standard image sizes being
imported into Homecrafter during the creation of walls &
floors. The template default size for a wall is 256x512, and
256x256 for a floor, if a size other than these are used for the
wall and floor graphics then the result isn't displayed properly
in the Mac version of The Sims 2, but instead shows as a plain
grey image.
The reason for
using non-standard images is because they do not always produce
the best quality results for some designs, many creators will use
an image that 256x768 for wall images because it gets a cleaner
looking result in game, also when creating 2x2 and 5x5 floor
images and of course terrain paints which use a 9x9 base image
size, using larger textures will make the resulting file look much
better.
If you are familiar
with SimPE you can fix this problem yourself, by opening the wall
or floor file in SimPE, exporting the
texture image to a graphics program and resizing it (you may need
to turn off anything which retains the aspect ratio - please
consult your program's help files if you are unsure of how to do
this), and then importing it again in the correct size and saving
the file.
Although we will endeavor
to try and avoid this situation in the future it may be the case
that some of our new additions will still use the non-standard
sizes where the design looks noticeably poor quality using the
default template size.
