Diagonosing Problems with The Sims 2 & Custom Content:
I can no longer use some Maxis objects that come with the game since installing custom objects?
This is caused by one of the objects you've downloaded being incompatible with the combinations of Expansion packs you do or do not have, or in some cases the object partially or wholly overrides the non-working Maxis object. 

1. Make sure your game is fully patched, these issues can occasionally be caused by failed or missing patches and regardless you should always download every patch for all the Expansions you have installed if you want your game to run as smoothly as possible with or without custom content.

2. If the above does not fix the issue then you need to find and remove the object that is triggering the problem. Follow these steps to identify the object
