Diagnosing Problems with The Sims 2 & Custom Content:
My game starts loading but crashes when trying to choose a neighourbood from the neighbourhood chooser
The most common cause of this problem is the removal of .sc4 terrain template files.

1. If you have accidentally or otherwise removed any Terrain templates from your My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/SC4Terrains folder restore them.

2. If the above does not apply but the problem only occurs with ONE neighbourhood then try deleting the offending neighbourhood in game. If you cannot because the game crashes then go into the Neighborhoods folder and delete all files for that particular neighbourhood

3. If 1 does not apply and multiple neighbourhoods are affected rather than 1 specific neighbourhood then reinstall your game - this issue is not caused by custom content but by a general game corruption.

4. If the problem persists with a fresh installation of the game please contact EA's Technical Support
