Diagnosing Problems with The Sims 2 & Custom Content:
My game crashes when trying to open a particular part of my BUILD or BUY mode catalogs
This is caused by a GUID clash, corrupt or incompatible hacked object or one that requires an Expansion pack that you do not have.
1. If it is a GUID clash you will need to identify the pair of objects which have the matching GUID's. You can find a complete guide of how to do this over at ModTheSims2 using SimPE. Run the scan and if you find a GUID clash remove ONE of the offending objects and see if the issue goes away.

2. If the above fails then its likely that one of your installed objects has a corruption or an unrecognized behaviour. You will need to identify it manually, follow the steps suggested in this topic.
