Burlesque is a theatrical dance form combining performance art, adult entertainment and often satire, the focus of which is conventionally striptease routines with comedic elements. The art form emerged from the 1840's and continues to be popular to this day. The classic burlesque look is highly feminine, often consisting of many layers (providing the 'tease' in striptease), modern interpretations use inspirations from the wildly theatrical to the classic 1950's pin-up look
