Although Halloween does have its roots in the Pagan Festival of Samhain, it has become a popular holiday in the US and increasingly in other countries around the world, as an excuse to dress up in cheesy costumes, carve silly faces on pumpkins and to go trick-or-treating which is the practice of extorting candy from neighbours and friends.
