Sims 1 Technical Support
It is highly recommended that you do not use custom content in The Sims unless you have all expansion packs installed or the equivalent Complete Edition.
January 9th 2016: Sims 1 & Windows 10
If you've been stuck staring at a plain black screen instead of The Sims 1 since upgrading to Windows 10 then try the following quick and easy fix!
You should find that the black overlay is now gone and you can play The Sims as normal!
A few people have also contacted me asking about installation problems under Windows 10 - unfortunately not a lot has changed there - all the old installation problems that happened with every previous operating system are cropping up again. My advice is that if you want to reduce installation related suffering then getting a copy of The Sims Complete collection is preferable to using individual packs.
Prices are low for second hand copies on Ebay if the full priced Complete Collection is too expensive. Just remember to ask the seller for photos of the shiny side of the discs before you buy if you are in any way concerned about scratched or broken discs!Gothic
December 22nd 2012: Happy Holidays!Wishing you all a happy *whatever* and a great new year!
Sims 1 Furniture
Furniture is available in themed room sets, plus a decor category where you can find collections of plants, paintings, sculptures etc.
Furniture downloads may contain the following types of files which need to be installed correctly:
Instructions for installing all these different types of files are covered in detail in the following Support topics:
Not installing parts of objects correctly may lead to the object not working as intended
Sims 1 Clothing
The clothing selection includes normal skins which your Sims can select from their dresser, and buyable skins which they can purchase from a community clothing rack in a shop.
For buyable skins to work correctly they must be installed into an appropriate Skinsbuy folder, in addition you will require the expansion pack listed for the item. Please see the instructions provided
Sims 1 Heads
As part of the most recent make-over of Parsimonious all the old head textures were removed to make way for a new collection which has each individual design available in 4 skin tones.
You can find all the removed head textures over at Saving The Sims Yahoo Groups.
Sims 1 Walls & Floors
The walls and floors are no longer organized into style or theme categories. Instead you will only find two categories, one for walls, one for floors plus the default 'all' selection.
For various administrative reasons there are no longer selections of coordinates available to download via the Furniture section. All items that were available in this way are still online in the Wall and Floor section.
Our resident artists now have their own Studios. You can access these via the links below, from our Links page or by clicking on the artist credit tags found on all items across the site.
This side section can be found on every content page and features useful information about the content shown.
The information provided will include things like instructions on how to install the content, links to external resources or other related information and for more complex items, assistance for understanding and fixing problems that can occur when using custom content.
