    Sims 1 Technical Support

It is highly recommended that you do not use custom content in The Sims unless you have all expansion packs installed or the equivalent Complete Edition.

    Gothic

    December 22nd 2012: Happy Holidays!

Wishing you all a happy *whatever* and a great new year!

    Sims 1 Furniture

Furniture is available in themed room sets, plus a decor category where you can find collections of plants, paintings, sculptures etc.

Furniture downloads may contain the following types of files which need to be installed correctly:

    • iff - this is the default format for objects as well as NPC and controller files
    • skn, cmx and bmp - these are used for NPCs and some objects use a 3d mesh state when Sims interact with them
    • exe - a small number of objects are cloned from the Simday downloads released on the official site. Affected objects will include the original executable for anyone who doesn't already have them.

Instructions for installing all these different types of files are covered in detail in the following Support topics:

  • Adding Downloads To Your Game
  • Not installing parts of objects correctly may lead to the object not working as intended

    Sims 1 Clothing

The clothing selection includes normal skins which your Sims can select from their dresser, and buyable skins which they can purchase from a community clothing rack in a shop.

For buyable skins to work correctly they must be installed into an appropriate Skinsbuy folder, in addition you will require the expansion pack listed for the item. Please see the instructions provided

As part of the most recent make-over of Parsimonious all the old head textures were removed to make way for a new collection which has each individual design available in 4 skin tones.

You can find all the removed head textures over at Saving The Sims Yahoo Groups.

The walls and floors are no longer organized into style or theme categories. Instead you will only find two categories, one for walls, one for floors plus the default 'all' selection.

For various administrative reasons there are no longer selections of coordinates available to download via the Furniture section. All items that were available in this way are still online in the Wall and Floor section.
